The Game Engine guild explores all sorts of topics under the game engine umbrella, including both game design and development.
About the Guild
The Game Engine guild explores a variety of game engines, such as Unity, Unreal, and Roblox Studio, and hosts member-led upskilling workshops to teach each other about how to use them effectively. Guild meetings are relatively informal, and offer a time for those in attendance to share interesting topics related to game development, as well as any of their professional or personal game design/development work.
Members of the Game Engine guild take part in various projects, usually assisting with programming and constructing experiences in engines like Unity. The guild emphasizes the cooperative learning that is at the heart of Next Lab, as members not only seek to learn more things both by themselves and from each other, but also teach others what they have learned.
To facilitate upskilling, the guild hosts mini game jams. These are weekly game prototyping projects based on a chosen topic and presented at each meeting. In addition to this, the guild also engages in informal discussion of game design and game engine topics that interest guild members.
