The Digital Storytelling Guild at Next Lab takes on the vital roles of conceptualizing, producing, and marketing all of the content that represents Next Lab to the world.
About the Guild
The Digital Storytelling guild mission goes beyond storytelling, ensuring that anything about Next Lab shown to the world aligns with both Next Lab and ASU’s values and resonates with their peers. The guild works collaboratively to connect the innovative work happening at Next Lab to the broader community.
Over the years, the Digital Storytelling guild has gone through many transformations. At its inception, the guild was dedicated to creating concept art and pre-production for the various projects at Next Lab. They were then given the opportunity to create marketing content, using platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn to showcase Next Lab’s work to a digital audience. Now, the guild tells all manner of stories–about Next Lab’s projects, other guilds, events both hosted by and attended by members of Next Lab, and more.
The purpose of the Digital Storytelling guild is to bridge the gap between Next Lab’s work and interests of potential sponsors, partners, and the general public. This guild’s structure is unique compared to Next Lab’s other guilds, as Digital Storytelling members uplift what other guilds and project teams do for more eyes to see and become interested in partnering with Next Lab or participating in the Next Lab community.

“Being a member of the Marketing and Digital Storytelling Guild, I’ve significantly enhanced my professional skills and broadened my expertise. It has provided me with valuable opportunities to engage in a professional setting, where I’ve honed my communication abilities and refined my time management. Additionally, the guild has expanded my resume beyond the scope of my degree, allowing me to develop a diverse skill set applicable to various fields, including animation and marketing. Beyond technical skills, the guild has supported my growth as a leader, culminating in my role as President of the Women in Animation club at ASU. This experience has not only strengthened my leadership capabilities but also reinforced my ability to apply digital storytelling in a wide range of contexts. Overall, my involvement with the guild has played a pivotal role in shaping both my professional trajectory and my personal development.
